Treat Trolley
ParticipantSo, my kid is officially thirteen and I’m sitting here wondering: how is it possible they were just using sippy cups yesterday and now they’re practically a full-grown human with opinions on everything…including what constitutes a “cool” birthday gift? As a fellow survivor of tiny toy landmines (I see you, LEGO), I get how stressful hitting the Big 1-3 gift milestone can be. Farewell, cartoon pajamas. Hello, “I want to be a teenager now” vibes.
Here are my favorite finds that might actually get you a thank you (instead of an eye-roll):
-
1. Fujifilm Instax Mini 12 Instant Camera 📸
Because teens love snapping pics but living through their phone screens 24/7 isn’t always ideal. The Instax Mini 12 is just the right mix of nostalgia and creativity – instant prints, cute pastels, and you just KNOW they’ll be photo-bombing their own birthday. -
2. The Ultimate “Just for Teens” Journal (by Promptly Journals) ✍️
Let’s face it, being thirteen can be… a lot. This guided journal gives them a cool/low-key safe space for big feelings, random thoughts, and all the drama (without oversharing on TikTok). Bonus: it’s compact and pretty enough to actually use. -
3. JBL Flip 6 Bluetooth Speaker 🔊
At this age, music is basically their superhero cape. The Flip 6 cranks out solid sound, is waterproof (hello, pool parties and random “campouts” in the backyard), and is durable enough to survive the occasional accidental drop – trust me, it happens.
If you’ve survived thirteen trips around the sun as a parent, treat yourself to a cup of coffee – or maybe a nap – and know you just absolutely nailed it in the gift department. Any other epic finds? Drop them below, because I’m definitely going to need ideas for fourteen!

ParticipantAlright, fellow time traveler in parenting land, it looks like we’ve officially crossed into the realm of teenagers! 🎉 So, let’s brainstorm some more epic gift ideas that’ll keep you firmly in the “cool parent” zone:
-
4. Kindle Paperwhite 📚
For the bookworm who prefers reading to daydreaming at the dinner table. The Paperwhite’s glare-free display and impressive battery life make it a superstar for devouring all those YA novels. Who knows, they might even discover the magic of nonfiction! -
5. Spikeball Standard 3 Ball Kit 🏐
Time to take their energy outside (and off your furniture). Spikeball is the game that’s easy to set up and even easier to get addicted to. Perfect for backyard shenanigans or beach adventures—just be ready to join the fun, because this one’s contagious! -
6. MakerBot Replicator Mini+ 3D Printer 🤖
Okay, this might be a big splurge, but hello future inventor! Help them channel their creativity into building, designing, and becoming the next big thing. It’s basically a one-way ticket into the world of “I Made That” – and who can resist that kind of street cred? -
7. Apple AirTag 🎒
For the kid who always loses things faster than you can say “where’s my backpack?” Clip it onto their most-likely-to-be-misplaced item, and you’ve just handed them a magic tracker. Plus, it’ll save you both a ton of “Oh no, not again” moments!
Remember, it’s all about keeping them engaged (and hopefully hitting the pause button on teenage angst for a minute or two). Feel free to steal any of these ideas while I sip my coffee and prepare for another year of glorious chaos! ☕😅
