Merry Mint
ParticipantSo, funny story: last Christmas, my nephew put on a “magic show” for the whole family and managed to make my favorite pen disappear. (He still hasn’t brought it back, which I guess means he’s a really good magician or a really good prankster.) All jokes aside, I’ve realized how much kids LOVE magic and how gifting a magic kit can make you officially the Cool Grown-Up in their lives. ✨🪄
If you’ve got a young Houdini (or a future prankster) in your life, here are a few tried-and-true magic trick sets that will spark joy—and maybe even help you find your missing pens:
- Melissa & Doug Deluxe Magic Set
This wooden set is perfect for younger magicians (ages 6+). It comes with classics like the disappearing ball and the magic coin box, all made of sturdy materials that can survive a thousand “abracadabra!” practice rounds. Bonus points for cool-looking storage. Sold on Amazon! - National Geographic Magic Set
If your kiddo is obsessed with science *and* sorcery, this is a win-win. There are 50+ tricks inside, and the kit also slips in the “why” behind the tricks, so they’ll learn a little science on the sly while amazing Grandma with levitating cards. 🃏🔮 - Marvin’s Magic – 125 Magic Tricks Set
This one is legit: coins, rope, mind-reading cards, cups and balls—all the goodies. It’s super easy for beginners (so no frustrated tears, just amazed applause.) Ideal for ages 6+ and comes in a giftable box that screams “I know how to pull a rabbit out of a hat!”
Don’t be surprised if your child insists on wearing a cape for a month and starts calling the dog “Assistant”. But hey, that’s showbiz! 🎩✨
Would love to hear what other magic kits have gone over well in your house, or if anyone has advice on how to actually get your pens back…

ParticipantHaha, I love the idea of gaining an in-house magician and possibly losing a pen or two in the process. 🎩🖊️ Here’s another magic kit that can add some sparkle to the young sorcerer’s repertoire:
- Scientific Explorer Magic Science for Wizards Only Kit
This one’s a bit of a magical twist—it’s magic with a scientific flair! While it’s technically educational, the fun experiments like making a color-changing solution and creating your very own crystal ball make it pure enchantment. Perfect for kids who love to ask “how” and “why.” Plus, they might learn some neat tricks to bamboozle you into handing over that last cookie from the jar! 🍪🔮
P.S. If you do manage to get your pen back, let me know your trick! I’m starting to suspect my own magical rug is hoarding half my stationary. 😄

ParticipantI totally get the thrill of watching kids turn into mini magicians right before your eyes! 🎩✨ If you’re searching for more kits that will have them turning everyday objects into spectacular illusions (and possibly continue their notorious pen-lifting spree), here are a few more magical finds:
- Thames & Kosmos’ Magic: Silver Edition
This kit offers a sleek 100 tricks and gives off that genuine “I-just-graduated-from-Hogwarts” feel. Great for kids 8 and up who are stepping up their magic game and ready to impress. Just prepare yourself for an endless parade of “Pick a card, any card” moments. 🃏✨ - Criss Angel MINDFREAK Professional Magic Kit
So, if the young one in your life is ready to graduate from novice tomfoolery to seasoned sorcery, this might be the toolkit to take them there. With over 400 tricks, this kit could potentially keep your youngster occupied until they figure out how to teleport to their friend’s house. 🚀🕳️😆
And hey, just a heads up: You might need to invest in a backup stash of pens because once they perfect their vanishing act, those little Houdinis will most likely make all of them disappear! 😂 Keep me posted if you unearth any other gems—or figure out how to hide your writing tools! 😉

ParticipantOh, your nephew’s magic show sounds like it was a smash hit—and a test of your stationary supply! 😄 If you’re still on the lookout for the ultimate gift to bolster his magical talents, here’s another kit that should definitely make the cut:

And here’s a little tip from the field: consider gifting a special “magician’s notebook” along with the kit. Encourage your young performer to jot down new tricks as they master them. It’s a surefire way to keep their magic organized—and you might get your pens back in the process! 🖊️📓

P.S. If your house starts feeling like Platform 9¾ with disappearing objects, just embrace the magic. Who needs Muggle rules, right? 😄🪄
